Youth Substance Abuse (YSAPPA)

The Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Programs Archive (YSAPPA), funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, is a collection of effective substance abuse prevention program replication kits aimed at preventing or reducing the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by adolescents and young adults. The programs were selected by a national advisory panel of leading scientists in the field of substance abuse prevention. View the selection criteria.

Each replication kit includes all the materials needed to implement and evaluate the intervention, including:

  • original program materials, such as instructors manuals, workbooks, videos, student exercise books
  • a User's Guide describing the program, its development and original evaluation
  • a CD-ROM with step-by-step guidelines for implementing and evaluating the program
  • an evaluation packet for assessing the effectiveness of the program in a new site
  • one year free technical support
