Athletes Training and Learning to Avoid Steroids (ATLAS)
Linn Goldberg and Diane Elliot

ATLAS is a drug prevention and health promotion program designed for male athletes in grades 9 through 12. This team-centered, gender-specific program addresses key risk and protective factors associated with anabolic steroids and other drug use.

Coaches and student team leaders deliver ten weekly, 50-minute class sessions and research staff delivers 8-weight room sessions. Topics covered include sports nutrition and strength training alternatives to athletic enhancing substances and strategies to avoid alcohol and other drugs. Coaches and peer teammates facilitate curriculum delivery with scripted manuals in small interactive groups.
