The Intergenerational Panel Study of Parents and Children is an eight-wave intergenerational study (1962-1993) of 1,113 white couples in the Detroit metropolitan area who gave birth in July, 1961. The study investigates childbearing, employment, d ivorce, changing family attitudes, and child outcomes in the domains of marriage, childbearing, school, work, living arrangements, family relationships and the transition to adulthood. A combined mother and son/daughter data file contains 3,079 variables and 1,113 cases; and a Life History Calendar data file contains 6,126 variables and 937 cases.
