What is CEDETA Continuing Education (CE)?
The goal of the CEDETA CE program at Sociometrics is to facilitate the highest quality professional work in psychologists and other mental health professionals in clinical application, teaching, consultation or research. After completing a CEDETA home study course, participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in the skills and knowledge required to maintain competence, strengthen their habits of critical inquiry and balanced judgment, and contribute to better patient care.

What courses are offered?
Every CEDETA program box (replication kit) includes, as part of the purchase price, two independent CE home study courses:

What are the learning objectives of these courses?
The general CEDETA course on empirically supported treatments (15 CE credits) has the following four learning objectives:

  1. To increase knowledge and skills related to the psychotherapeutic treatment of children’s mental health disorders
  2. To enhance practical understanding of theoretical concepts underlying psychotherapeutic treatment of children’s mental health disorders
  3. To apply specific treatment techniques
  4. To expand knowledge of empirical support for the treatment programs

The nine program specific CEDETA courses (5 CE credits each) have the following four overall learning objectives:

  1. To understand aspects of the relevant internalizing disorder(s)
  2. To apply specific treatment techniques
  3. To employ treatment modality(ies) with confidence
  4. To summarize empirical support for the treatment

Can the courses be taken online?
Although CEDETA CE courses are only available as home study courses, all students have the option to complete their CE tests (and certification process) online, or by mail.

Are CEDETA courses approved by my Board?
Sociometrics is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Sociometrics maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program is also approved by the National Association of Social Workers (provider #886519391) for a combined total of 60 continuing education contact hours. It is your responsibility to contact your credentialing or licensing boards directly to verify whether CEDETA CE courses will be accepted for meeting the conditions of credential or licensure renewal in your state.

How do I purchase a CEDETA course? What do they cost?
Those who purchase a CEDETA program replication kit will receive both CEDETA CE home study courses in their kit at no additional charge. The CEDETA general course is also available for separate purchase for $180 (online test access only; course text must be purchased separately).

What are the basic steps in taking a CEDETA CE course?
Tests can be taken two times to achieve a passing score. Test retake requests should be directed to Sociometrics socio@socio.com. Retaken tests are only available in hard copy format (sent and submitted by regular mail).

How do I get my certificate for completing a CEDETA CE course?
Those successfully passing an online test can print their certificate immediately. Those passing their mailed-in test will receive certificates within 15 business days.

Are there any terms and conditions for taking CEDETA CE courses?
As a student participating in one or more CEDETA home study courses, you are responsible for studying the assigned materials. If you choose to take the knowledge test in order to earn CE credits, you agree to take the test yourself, complete an evaluation of satisfaction form about the course(s), and should you receive a passing score of 75% or higher, maintain a copy of your certificate of completion. Materials for the program-specific courses are drawn from replication kits for treatment programs with specific professional qualifications for purchase and use. For further details, see the purchaser requirements.
