The Program Archive on Sexuality, Health & Adolescence
(PASHA)
PASHA was established by Sociometrics Corporation in 1995, with funding
from the US Office of Population Affairs. The programs represent a collection
of promising teen pregnancy and STD/HIV/AIDS prevention programs called
the Pragram Archive on Sexuality, Health and Adolescence (PASHA). The
archive is aimed at assisting prevention practitioners around the country
by identifying and facilitating access to effective prevention programs.
Overview
PASHA is a collection of promising teen pregnancy and STD/HIV/AIDS
prevention programs. The programs have been selected by a Scientist Expert
Panel for their demonstrated effectiveness in changing fertility- and
STD/HIV/AIDS-related behaviors among teens. For each program included
in the collection, archive staff first acquire the original program and
evaluation materials from the developers/distributors. Then they assemble
a package containing all of the materials needed for program implementation,
re-designing items as necessary, and in collaboration with the original
developer. In addition, three evaluation resources provide a starting
point for re-evaluating the promising program. To facilitate the replication,
adaptation and further evaluation of these interventions throughout the
country, all PASHA materials are designed to be comprehensive, user-friendly
and visually appealing. In establishing the archive, Sociometrics aims
to promote the dissemination, creative adaptation, and evaluation of these
effective programs in schools, clinics, and community-based organizations
across the country.
PASHA Program Packages Include:
- a complete set of materials such as training manuals, curriculum guidebook,
workbooks, videos, board game, etc.,
- a User’s Guide which describes the program’s initial implementation
and provides tips and guidelines for repeated program implementation,
(User's Guides are also available separately for
shipment or download),
- the Prevention Minimum Evaluation Data Set
- a generic questionnaire that can be used with most teen pregnancy/STD
prevention programs
- a Local Evaluator Consultant Network Directory for obtaining additional
evaluation assistance
- a one-page packing slip listing the contents and describing the organization
of the package.

Male Involvement Programs (a best practices archive)
In
response to a growing interest in involving young men in teen pregnancy
prevention efforts, Sociometrics has established a best practices archive
on Male-Oriented Pregnancy Prevention Programs. Interest in developing
pregnancy prevention programs specifically for males is relatively new,
and most evaluations of these progrms have yet to consistenly show strong
results in changing behavior. The two programs below have met Sociometrics
"best practices" critera, which include a clear statement of
program goals, successful program implementation, and internal/external
validation of program. Based on the PASHA model, these male invovlement
packages are comprehensive, including all items needed for program replication.
