Evaluation Publications
Sociometrics' evaluation-related publications help practitioners
and evaluators design and implement performance measurement systems
in their own adolescent pregnancy and STD/HIV/AIDS prevention
programs. Our publications cover just about everything you need
to help you learn how to evaluate your prevention program. And
while most evaluation publications on the market today are written
for an audience of scientists, this series has been carefully
designed to be understandable to decision-makers, service providers,
and policymakers. Moreover, while most examples are from the adolescent
reproductive health area, the practical how-to tips and sample
instruments are applicable to other prevention programs for high-risk
youth.
Using Sociometrics' evaluation-related publications, you can:
- learn
how to assess which programs work, for whom, and under what
circumstances;
- learn
what evaluation options exist and what each option costs;
- receive
tips on how to conduct an evaluation;
- learn
from others' experiences by reading about model programs;
- use Sociometrics'
evaluation instrument s and questionnaire item-banks for collecting
your own evaluation data;
- examine
the contents of more than 70 evaluation instruments in the
public domain and select items and scales relevant to your
program; and
- use original
data from leading evaluation studies to derive comparison
data for your program.
The following groups will benefit from using Sociometrics' evaluation-related
resources:
- Funders,
government officials, service providers, and evaluation researchers
who are interested in finding out how teen pregnancy programs
have been evaluated
- Service
providers and evaluation researchers who are considering evaluating
their own program(s) and who want some help and guidance on
how to do this.
- Academic
departments, research institutes, and libraries interested
in building their evaluation publication collection.
Sociometrics' evaluation publications are available for download free-of-charge as part of the Resource And Practice subscription packages.

Guidebook:
Evaluating Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs

of service outcome, the Sociometrics Guidebook instructs
users on how to benefit from program evaluation methods at
all stages of program development: from initial conceptualization
and model implementation to program monitoring and full impact
evaluation. |

EVALUATION INSTRUMENTS
HIV/AIDS
Prevention Program Archive Evaluation Assistance Kit
 |
The HAPPA Kit is a comprehensive questionnaire item bank
that can be customized for use with any adult HIV/AIDS prevention
program. The HAPPA Kit was developed to measure attitudes,
knowledge, and risk behaviors associated with HIV/AIDS. Virtually
all questions in the item bank were drawn from national surveys
studying HIV knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes. The kit
also includes the HAPPA Evaluation Questionnaire. The HAPPA
Evaluation Questionnaire (EvalQ) represents an effort by HAPPA
staff to produce a shorter, more feasible evaluation instrument
from the HAPPA Kit item bank. Designed for self-administration
by program participants, the EvalQ focuses on assessing participants'
risk behaviors. The complete HIV/AIDS/ Prevention Program Archive
Evaluation Assistance Kit is available in printed or machine-readable
format. |
