This data file includes macro-level data from the 50 states on 95 variables including: adolescent rates of birth, pregnancy, and abortion; social factors such as population growth and residential mobility, school dropout rate, crime rate, teenage suicide rate, circulation of sexually explicit magazines, voting behavior, and stress level; and policy measures such as state spending on education, teacher- student ratio, welfare payments, sex education, availability of Medicaid funds for abortion, and accessibility of abortion providers. Data were compiled from publications of the National Center for Health Statistics, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, and the Centers for Disease Control.
