1980 U.S. Current Population Survey: Selected Variables-Females
Investigators:
In 1980, a special supplementary survey on marital and fertility histories was conducted in conjunction with the June Current Population Survey (CPS). The CPS, which is conducted monthly by the Bureau of the Census, provides estimates of employment, unemployment, and other demographic statistics. The supplement provided information on up to three marriages and on the birthdates and sex of up to five children, as well as the total number of children, expectations for more children, and selected characteristics of the current spouse. The CPS sample consists of individuals living in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. This extract file contains data for 71,407 women aged 14 or older. Data include selected demographic and occupational information from the CPS as well as the data from the marital and fertility history supplement. The microcomputer version of the raw data is an extract of 1,006 cases.
Note for users of DAAPPP Data Sets #01-B1
DAAPPP data sets 01 through B1 are comprised of a User's
Guide, SPSS syntax files (*.SPS or *.SPX) and raw data files only. Most of
these datasets contain SPSS syntax files that use Job Control Language (JCL)
from 1980s versions of SPSS-X. Because the syntax is old, the syntax files
require editing to conform to the current syntax standards used by SPSS/Windows
or SPSS/Unix. If you require technical assistance in using or editing these
syntax files, please contact Sociometrics' Data Support Group at 800.846.3475
or socio@socio.com.
